The judging panel for the SOURCE Awards is made up of some of the foremost experts in fashion and sustainability as well as high profile figures and industry leaders, many of which are members of the FELLOWSHIP 500. 1. SOURCE INNOVATION Award: Fashion Design & Textiles design
Recognising inspirational new talent in fashion design and textiles design, combined with innovation in sustainability terms. This Award is open to designers and businesses which have been trading for up to three years. There is also a “one to watch” award as part of this category, open to any designer, entrepreneur, or start up with an innovative product or idea, and the potential to succeed.
Judges of this award are looking for: Outstanding design skills and construction quality, combined with innovation in sustainability and commercial potential.
Please note that we are not able to offer INNOVATION award winners representation at Pure London this year. However they will benefit from significant promotion throughout EFF media channels and recognition as leaders in sector by the EFF’s extensive business and buyer network, as do all SOURCE Award winners.
2. SOURCE Sustainable Brand Leader
Open to businesses which are combining product excellence with best practice in sustainability terms. Brand leaders are awarded separate awards in the womenswear, menswear, children’s wear, and accessories (including jewellery) sectors.
Judges of this award are looking for: Brands which have integrated sustainability at the very core of their business practices, and combine this with compelling product ranges and commercial growth or the potential for commercial growth. This award aims to put the spotlight on current and future fashion brand leaders.
3. SOURCE Sustainable supplier/manufacturer
Open to suppliers and manufacturers of all sizes from fair trade groups to production units, factories and fabric suppliers, globally. This award recognizes sustainable practices in the supply chain, both social: empowering workers, sustainable livelihoods, poverty reduction, and community impact, and environmental: from low energy to organic and eco- innovation, combined with a high standard of service.
Judges of this award are looking for: Pioneering suppliers that are combining real impact in social and environmental terms with outstanding supply or production services.
4. SOURCE Ethical Fashion Africa
Recognising the potential for fashion business to transform livelihoods and opportunities in Africa, this award is open to any business or initiative based in or sourcing from Africa.
Judges of this award are looking for: Businesses and initiatives that are proving the potential for fashion made in Africa to change lives, address environmental issues, and reach international markets with outstanding products and business models.
5. SOURCE Independent Boutique / sustainable brand platform
Open to all independent retailers, online or bricks and mortar, selling multiple sustainable fashion brands. This award recognizes best practice in the curation, marketing and sale of sustainable fashion through a multi brand platform.
Judges of this award are looking for: Businesses that have created retail platforms for sustainable fashion brands, bringing them to a mainstream market, using clever curation, robust brand selection criteria, and innovative marketing techniques.
6. SOURCE Design Leader
Recognising commitment to sustainability by leading, mainstream and high profile fashion designers.
Judges of this award are looking for: High profile designer names and iconic brands that are proactively and systematically working to integrate sustainable practices at the heart of their business model and product ranges.
7. SOURCE Retail Leader
Recognising commitment to sustainability by leading, mainstream and corporate retail chains.
Businesses in this category were shortlisted on the basis of:
- Going beyond trying to do no harm- implementing initiatives that achieve real social and environmental impact.
- Displaying leadership- putting head above the parapet and promoting sustainability/ sustainability initiatives.
- Combining sustainability best practice with commercial innovation.
8. SOURCE Outstanding contribution / Individual pioneer
Open to any individual from activists to spokespeople, researchers, and pioneers, this award recognizes outstanding contribution to furthering sustainability in the fashion sector.
Judges of this award are looking for: Individuals who have dedicated themselves to driving forward sustainability in the fashion sector, influenced and inspired those around them, and persevered in spite of obstacles and challenges to achieve positive change.
9. SOURCE Sustainable Style Icon
Recognising leadership in sustainable style, promoting and putting the spotlight on sustainable fashion design.
Judges of this award are looking for: Individuals in positions of some influence that have gone out of their way to support, promote, and wear sustainable fashion products and brands, changing public perceptions about sustainable and ethical fashion and proving that it is worn by style leaders.
10. SOURCE Media/ awareness raising
Open to any media representative, blog, campaign, news or awareness raising platform, this award recognizes outstanding achievement in raising awareness about the issues related to fashion and sustainability.
Judges of this award are looking for: Individuals, media publications (online or printed) or blogs that are reaching or have the potential to reach large numbers of people, engaging them with fashion and sustainability, changing perceptions, encouraging action and behavioural change.
11. SOURCE College/ Education award
Open to any college or training programme, this award recognizes commitment to educating the next generation of fashion professionals
Judges of this award are looking for: Fashion colleges, education or training programmes that are integrating sustainability at the heart of fashion education. Judges are seeking a systematic and pro active approach by fashion course leaders, with sustainability considered as fundamental to successful fashion business, rather than as an add on.
