Chairing the Industry Leaders Panel

Russ is the founder of Tech London Advocates (TLA), an advocacy group of senior leaders within the international technology community, created with the aim of championing and accelerating the growth of London’s technology and digital sector. Previously, Russ was Vice President & General Manager at Skype, focusing on Europe, Middle East and Africa, and held roles as Global Innovation Director at Telefonica, CEO of Mobileway and marketing and brand management in the financial services. Russ has been appointed a London Tech Ambassador by the Mayor’s Office and a member of the Tech City Advisory Group. Russ holds a MBA from Harvard Business School.

CAITLIN BRISTOLGLOBAL MANAGER, SOCIAL INNOVATION AT EBAY

Caitlin is a creative strategist focused on the design and development of more sustainable forms of commerce. Since joining eBay Inc. in 2011, she’s helped to catalyse, incubate, and scale new programmes that enable both business and social value. Previously, she led campaigns, content and creative for Silicon Valley start-up ecofabulous.com (now part of Huffington Post). Caitlin is a 2014 Aspen Institute First Mover Fellow and board member of Global Action Through Fashion and Teens Turning Green.

CYNDI RHOADESCIRCULAR EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO), WORN AGAIN

Speaking on the Industry Leaders Panel

Cyndi is the founder of Worn Again and has led the company from its early days in upcycling end of use textiles into footwear, bags and accessories to its’ current developments in textile to textile recycling technology. With a vision to eradicate textile waste, she has worked on a series of ground-breaking products and projects with world leading designers, including Christopher Raeburn and Benjamin Shine, and global brands, including Virgin Atlantic, Eurostar, Royal Mail, Virgin Balloon Flights, McDonald’s, and most recently announced, a collaboration with H&M and Kering’s sport and lifestyle brand, Puma. Cyndi is a multi-awarding winning entrepreneur and has been made a Courvoisier Future 500 Ambassador, Force for Good Pioneer by Tomorrow’s Company and Enterprise UK Ambassador.

MAHER ANJUMSUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT

Maher has been Project Manager of Green Grade’s new Upskill programme – an e-learning platform that raises the awareness levels of compliance and labour standards within the Bangladeshi garment sector. Available online or as a tablet app, UpSkill is an engaging and user-friendly software which sets a new benchmark in the training of work ethics and safety. It has been developed with the core aim of encouraging factory mid-managers to gain thorough knowledge. Maher has extensive experience in the garment supply chain sector, particularly in Bangladesh. She has previously been the coordinator of the Bangladesh Brand Forum (UK), a senior consultant to the British Council and the International Trade Centre and Senior Manager at London Development Agency.

MARISA TODDVICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCT & UX, DEPOP

Marisa has over 15 years experience in launching innovative media and commerce products. She is currently Vice President of Product & User Experience at Depop, a social app that lets you buy and sell items and has recently received $8m in funding. She has held previous roles as the Product & User Experience Director at The Cools, Director of Ux at Far Fetch (which has received and delivered on $108.5m investment to date), Head of Product at Gilt Groupe and Senior Product Executive for HuffPost (AOL).

ELISABETH LINGDIGITAL CONSULTANT, HIGH GROWTH E-COMMERCE

Elisabeth is currently advising established companies and start-ups on how to set up plans to foster a high-growth. Customer acquisition and retention strategies are at the centre of her expertise, as well as a strong focus on digital talent, coaching and mentoring. Most recently, Elisabeth was VP Digital at AlexandAlexa.com. overseeing digital marketing and product management, and working very closely with the CEO and the 2 Venture Capital funds who have invested in the company. Previously she worked for over 15 years in the digital industry, including over 5 years with PayPal and eBay in a variety of senior product management roles.

JADE HARWOOD – CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR, WOOL AND THE GANG

Speaking in the RETAIL masterclass

WOOL AND THE GANG is a global fashion brand that is disrupting the traditional fashion model by championing a more sustainable way to produce fashion. Online they offer gorgeous hand-crafted designs made by Peruvian artisans or you can make it yourself “Knit Kits.” They have a Gang of over 1,600 knitters around the world who help to design, produce and sell their collection. They’ve partnered with brands ranging from Giles Deacon and Christopher Raeburn through to lifestyle brands Mini Cooper and Veuve Clicquot. They recently raised $2.8m seed funding from Europe’s leading tech investors to develop and grow the business.

Presenting the INNOVATION masterclass

Giusy Bettoni is CEO and founder of C.L.A.S.S., a unique worldwide platform set up in 2007 that showcases exclusive fashion, textiles and materials created using smarter sustainable technology for fashion designers, industry and business. She has been working within the textiles system for more than 30 years, starting with “hands-on” experience within the raw material market development sector and ingredient branding approach working for major international organisations. She has dedicated the last 10 years to a focus on the developing the competitive advantage of innovative, responsible textiles for the fashion market. She’s also a consultant on responsible innovation for Première Vision, the international leading fashion trade show.

YASUE CARTER – CO-FOUNDER, (RE)VISION SOCIETY

Speaking in the INNOVATION masterclass

Yasue studied art and fashion at both Chelsea College of Art and Central Saint Martins. She has worked in the fashion industry for over a decade creating a number of brands, dressing an array of noteworthy clients and working closely with Look Inc. in her native country of Japan. She is one of the founders of (re)vision society, a creative studio working on projects to repurpose disused and salvaged materials.

Tim has worked on value-chain traceability and product integrity for nearly 20 years, gaining real-world experience across multiple sectors including food, apparel and pharmaceuticals. In 2003, Tim founded Historic Futures, recognised experts in supply-chain traceability with world leading technologies – including String3, a secure, online service allowing batch-level product information to be shared easily throughout the supply-chain.

Clare is one of the UK’s foremost experts when it comes to ethical sourcing and supply chains. A trained social and environmental auditor, she has a breadth of knowledge and experience in the challenges of building up sustainable supply chains and the ins and outs of standards and certification. Clare has worked closely with many of the worlds leading fashion retailers as well as smaller businesses in relation to supply chain strategy -and delivered training all over the world. She is an inspiring speaker and expert facilitator. Alongside this, Clare is Co Founder of award winning sustainable menswear brand Arthur and Henry, and is on the Steering Group of the Decent Work and Labour Standards Forum.

MARK SUMNERLECTURER, UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS

Speaking in the SUPPLY CHAIN masterclass

After 5 years as Sustainability Specialist and 10 years as Product Development Technologist at Marks & Spencer (M&S), Mark Sumner join the University of Leeds in 2013 as Lecturer in Sustainability, Fashion & Retail. Mark’s research explores how the technical aspects of sustainability can be integrated into the design of products to minimise the impact of materials and the manufacturing process, as well as identifying opportunities to reduce the impact of the ‘in use’ phase. His research is particularly focused on developing the solutions for a circular economy and reducing waste to landfill.

RENÉE CUOCOMANAGER, CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABLE FASHION, LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION

Hosting the DESIGN masterclass

Renée has a background in law and fashion and textile design. Renée has collaborated with various private and public funding bodies, recent projects include working with Nike on the Mobilize Makers project and delivering the Fashioning the Future Summer School 2013 with funding from the British Council. Renée has a holistic understanding of the fashion industry from conceptual design and craftsmanship to the driving factors behind commercial business.

DAVID TELFERMENSWEAR DESIGNER, ZERO WASTE DESIGN

Speaking in the DESIGN masterclass

David is a menswear designer with a focus on future sustainable pattern cutting techniques, including zero waste, minimal seam construction and one-piece construction. Currently employed as a designer at COS (cosstores.com). Previous industrial experience includes H&M, SixEightSevenSix and Gossypium. David is also a visiting university lecturer at Chelsea College of Art, ESMOD Berlin and others.

BRYAN OKNYANSKYFOUNDER & DESIGNER, SHOES BY BRYAN

Speaking in the DESIGN masterclass

Bryan is an award-winning architecture and womens footwear designer who sets himself apart from the crowd. He is the proud designer and manufacturer of the world’s first customizable, wearable and eco-friendly 3D printed high heels – Split Heels. His outside of the box visionary approach has earned him international success as a designer, researcher, and Guest Lecturer in Los Angeles, Beijing, Moscow, and London, where his design studio is currently based. Over the last four years, Bryan has experimented with manufacturing technologies applied in the automotive and aerospace industries and has bridged the gap between fashion and technology with his debut luxury high-heels collections Heavy Metal Series and Born Again. Currently, Bryan is gaining international recognition for his visionary footwear collections and has his sights set on innovating on the design world at large.

Lucy Shea

Lucy Shea is the CEO of Futerra, an award-winning sustainability communications agency with offices in New York, London and Stockholm. As CEO, Lucy champions Futerra’s mission to make sustainability so desirable it becomes normal. As an expert on how brands can inspire consumers to live more sustainably, she provides senior-level counsel to brands as diverse as Unilever to the London 2012 Olympics. She is the author of “Communicating Sustainability,” a special document from the United Nations Environment Programme on how to deliver effective campaigns to inspire changes in public attitude and behaviour, as well as numerous articles on behaviour change for leading publications in the UK and internationally. Lucy also champions “Swishing”, Futerra’s global clothes swapping movement.

Amisha Ghadiali is a writer, presenter and entrepreneur. Her work includes radical think-tank Think Act Vote which published the collaborative book, The Future We Choose and Future Fashion, a series of events, films and podcasts sharing the stories of the pioneers behind the sustainable fashion movement. Amisha was co-founder of Provenance, a web platform that helps makers be more transparent and tell the true stories behind their products.
