Africa's fashion industry is expanding rapidly, but why are African designers still struggling to break into Western market? Krystle Epum investigates.



Fast-paced and competitive, fashion is one of the most difficult industries in the world to make your mark in—and Africans are feeling it. African fashion has been growing rapidly over the past decade, with African fashion weeks springing up in the fashion capitals: London, Paris, New York, Milan, and other major cities around the world. Many African designers are still pushing to make a name for themselves, and keeping up with the international market is proving to be difficult. There are many reasons for the problem, but one main issue is production. Krystle Epum discusses the problems facing African designers, and draws attention to a number of brands who are coming up with inventive solutions.
